SCANDINAVIAN STUDIES [3/22/09]

Quote:
So, I went three days without updating the site, and for that I apologize.

But goddamn those three days were wild.

The See You Next Tuesday, Slaughterbox, Rose Funeral, and This or the Apocalypse show on Thursday was fucking insane. The Aloha House was filled to the gills with sweaty kids fighting for their lives. Shows there are never disappointing, but that show was a notch above the norm. I'm still sore all over.

Friday Elin Macfarlane (tehehe) came into town. I met up with her and Alan at Emerald City Laundry around 9PMish to try and figure out what the game plan for the night was.

I had just heard from my boy Alex Faillers (of Helicopter Showdown fame) that in Willow Creek there was supposed to be a rave near a river. We toss the idea around, and eventually everyone agrees that they're down.

This is where shit gets interesting.

Willow Creek is a 40 minute drive. Not too bad right? Well, it was 40 minutes to Willow Creek, and another 40 minutes through treacherous mountain passes to get to this field. Supposedly there was a river within eye shot; I never saw it.

So when the time came we ended up parking on this road going downhill towards the field. Note that fact, it becomes important later. We head down the road, and after maybe five minutes of walking we pop out of the woods and into the party.

I swear to you it was like being on a different planet. There were easily 300 people running around. You had HSU students, Willow Creek citizens, hippies, transients, people in there thirties wearing Ferrari Team Racing jackets -- it was a like nothing I had ever seen before.

There was a predominantly electro/dub step dance floor near the road where we parked, there was wild glow in the dark geodome with DJs playing ambient music inside it, a massive bonfire, and every once and a while fire dancers would come out and entertain for a minute or two.

I don't know if there is any way to really describe the madness that was that event. It was hurricane of drugs and alcohol, it was hilarious to watch everyone cutting loose in this random ass field. I apologize for being too tired to explain everything I saw; if you didn't go you missed out.

At about 6AM we decide to head home. Cut to us in the parking lot.

Elin, who drove, is parked in pretty tightly on both sides. She has about three feet to move before she hits the car in front of her, and literally no space reverse. So she moves forward about two and a half feet, and I go to see how much room she cleared up behind her. There is still absolutely no space, the truck is touching her bumper. Very curious.

Samita in frustration jumps up to sit on the trunk of the car in front of us. It pops the trunk. By the grace of God (lol yeah right!) the car in front of us is completely unlocked with about four car spaces between it and next car. Samita, like a little badass, hops in, puts it in drive, rolls it forward 20 feet, puts it in park, puts the e-brake on and hops out.

Alright, sweet, we're golden. Elin starts to pull forward again; this is were the story goes into overdrive.

Alan notices that as Elin is moving forward the truck behind her moving as well.
Upon further investigation the truck has no real parking break, and gear problems as well.

Fucking nice.

Being the boy scouts that we are, Alan and myself throw rocks under the truck tires, try our best to stop it from moving as Elin scoots out (the rocks were the MVPs of the team), and call it a day.

Well, we called it a day after I pissed in the truck to celebrate (you got the condensed version of the story, this was all so much more stressful as it was happening).

It was a long ride back, we ended getting home about 8.

Saturday evening was fantastic as well (for me anyway). It was low key but I wouldn't have had it any other way.
Sunday morning, equally as good.

Sunday evening is kind of meh, but only because I know the best part of Sunday morning won't be there Monday morning.

Send me your art/music/writing. I promise I'll be updating daily again.
